Getting started

OClever MCP server

Connect Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or VS Code to OClever and ask about your AI visibility, competitors and citations in plain language.

What it is

The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open standard that lets AI assistants call tools in other products. The OClever MCP server exposes your OClever workspace as a set of tools, so an assistant can look up your visibility, competitors, prompts, citations and recommendations while it answers you.

It is a remote server: there is nothing to install. You add one URL to your assistant and sign in with your OClever account.

What you can ask

  • “How visible were we in AI answers this month, and what changed against last month?”
  • “Which competitor gained the most share of voice on Perplexity in the last 4 weeks?”
  • “Which sources cite our competitors but never us? Group them by type.”
  • “List the prompts where we are never mentioned and suggest content for the top five.”
  • “Add these 12 buyer questions as prompts in the Pricing topic.” (preview first, then apply)
  • “Ask ChatGPT and Perplexity right now which AEO tools agencies recommend.” (spends coins)

More worked examples are in Recipes.

How it works

  • Sign in once. Most assistants use OAuth: a browser window opens, you sign in to OClever, choose the workspaces and permissions to share, and you are connected. Developer tools can use a personal access token instead. See Authentication.
  • The assistant acts as you. It sees only the workspaces you choose, and never more than you can see in the dashboard. Restricted members see only their own workspaces.
  • Reads are free; actions are explicit. Report tools are read-only. Tools that change data or spend coins need extra permissions, and every one of them previews the change and its coin cost before doing anything.
  • Answers stay labelled. Text collected from AI engines is returned as third-party content in clearly named fields, so your assistant treats it as data to read rather than instructions to follow.

There is no monthly call cap. Calls are rate limited per user (120 a minute across all your connections), and only actions that do real work cost coins, at the same price as in the dashboard. Details in Plans, coins and limits.

Server variants

Some teams want an assistant that can never change anything, and some clients cap how many tools they load. Two variants of the URL help:

URLUse it when
https://mcp.oclever.com/mcpDefault. All tools your plan and permissions allow.
https://mcp.oclever.com/mcp/readonlyWrite and coin tools are not listed at all, whatever the token allows.
https://mcp.oclever.com/mcp?tools=discover,reportsLoad only some tool groups: discover, reports, prompts, actions.
